does anyone out there no what the max is on what can be milled off how much clearance there is on a 172 ford head

Are you asking how much can be milled off without the piston hitting or getting into a water jacket.Second question are you wanting to build compression or just clean it up from warpage? Eric

Sorry I had to do some research.The only thing about that head that I see is getting in the water jacket.If it's like the head that I looked at in my shop (I'd bet it is)look at the surface where the head bolts to the block and find the water port,just don't get it to thin and bust that port.I'd like to give you a measurement,but I haven't seen your head to know if it's been shaved on alot in the past.But I've got some other ideas that i've done on other engines for compression with good success.E-mail me if your interested.Thanks,Eric
