I have found a 440 Chrysler V-8 that I would like to install in a IH-M. Has anyone else done this? What problems will we have to overcome? Besides lengthening the frame, clutch, motor mounts, radiator, hood fitting, the rest should be easy! At least we have all winter to do it! Thanks for your help.

I have M with a small block chevy in it. No frame lengthening was required. Used the farmall separator plate (block to bellhousing plate) and redrilled it to fit the small block. Bolted it to the small block then the plate to the bellhousing. Using the chevy flywheel and clutch. You can either use the farmall clutch disk in the chevy pressure plate and make a pilot bushing or have a new input shaft machined. I chose the later route and use all chevy parts. Made a new throwout bearing adapter and use the chevy through out bearing on a custom machined sleeve. Replaced the farmall flex coupling with a 60 pitch chain coupling. Be glad to share pictures.
