whats abetter head 301 gas head or 240 truck head will truck head bolt on to the 301 block

The truck head is great for high rpm. It will bolt right on, but you will need the entire valve train from the truck engine and the valve cover. The rocker arms are shorter on the truck. You have to watch piston to valve clearance on these heads. You could still use the firecraters if that is what you have,, you may have to mill off .100 off the domes of the pistons to give it some room. The truck head is a high compression head, like the LP heads to the M"s and H"s. If you need a photo of a truck head, I have a few to show. Hope this helps, ChadS

Show a photo of a truck head and a tractor head valve recess area if you have some. I have a truck head and the valves are recessed alot too.
