I went to my first Old Time Tractor Pull this past weekend in Union, Missouri. I didnt see one Ferguson out of all the tractors that participated. I was a little disappointed to say the least. I didnt even see any Ford 9N/2N/8Ns at the tractor pull. There were a lot of John Deere, Farmall, and Olivers pulling. Does anyone know if these types of tractors dont do well in this sort of competition? It looked like a lot of fun and I was thinking about giving it a try sometime with my TO30 but wanted to see if anyone else had any experience using the Ferguson in a pulling competition.

Your TO30 should hold its own if you keep it in the lower weight classes. I have had great success with my 9N pulling in the 2600 lb class over the years.. email with questions, if you have any.

The TO 30 can be made to be one tough cookie in the 3000/ 3250 classes. Not sure what all you have to do but I have seen it done by the late Dick Erwin.

So, I welcome you to the antique tractor pulling world. When you said there was no Ford N-series tractors there, let me explain why. First look at the competition, the 3000-3500 is an AC, IH, & Oliver class, they are hard to beat. There was a Massey Furgusen 260 there, I was grading w/ it till the 4000 came up, then I had to get the Ford 900 ready to hook. Dad pulled the 3500 got 2nd & I pulled the 4000 got 5th. Them guys take that very seriously & don't like getting beat at all. The N's just don't have enough power like the others, but they can be competitive. If you are interested in watching the last hook of the season, come down to Sullivan Saturday the 8th around noon. I'm going to try to make it down there with my Ford & give em' hell. Come back in the pits & meet some of the guys, we are one big family that help one another out. Robbie
