Hi,

A friend off mine is looking for a ring and pinion gear for his 966 pulling tractor that can handle the extra power from his engine. Is there a heavy duty ring and pinion set for this tractor.

The ring and pinion is not the weakest spot, unless he had trouble. The TA input shaft will twist off first, go to a 1566 TA shaft. What type of pulling is the 966 doing?

all of the SS tractors that have a cast rear left run a stock ring&pinion.
all the same only different ratios,1566/1586 would be the fastest.

15s had planetary rear, had to speed the ring and pinion up to compensate.
i can not remember the tooth count off the top of my head, but it is more than a little faster.
