I have a 349ci Massey Harris 44. I was wondering how i can tell if its at the stock rpms? Also if it still is at stock rpm how would i get more out of it? Is it a good idea to try to get more rpm out of it or should i just leave it alone. I didnt build it so i really dont know a whole lot about it but i know it runs pretty darn good right now.

Kevin,

Go down to your local autoparts store and buy a tach for it. Most of them have settings for 4, 6 and 8 cylinders. Once you get that hooked up (which is pretty simple) go to one of the several websites (such as www.coatpa.com) where you can get an rpm chart for your class. +10% for a Massey 44 is 1650. By all means, if it is close to the limit and you are happy with the way it runs, my suggestion is to not mess with it. :-)
