Is there any consensus on which tractors are the best pullers while in 100% stock, straight off the farm condition? I guess I am most curious about the older stuff, (1975) and older. Thanks, Glenn F.

My dad used to pull a Case 1175 against Allis 190 XTs - 7050, Deere up through 4840, White 2-185s, IH 1066-1586, and other Case up through 1570. I can't remember any Masseys or Fords. He had great success in both the single and dual-wheel classes from 11,000 lb. singles up through 21,000 lb. duals. Pulled 250 hp on the dyno with a little pump tuning. He ran 145 hp in the field all the time. Proved to be a consistent winner and a reliable farm tractor as well. It was light enough to moved weight around to keep it well-balanced also.

If a healthy Moline U can pull in 5500 class, I would have to say they are hard to beat 100% stock. It is hard to find an "untouched" tractor on the track these days, but our farm stock classes are dominated by a UTN and UTU right now. I can't help but think a Case DC would compete well too. I don't see too many of them. In the lighter 3500 class I have seen several Fordson tractors take the cake.

If color doesn't matter a good IH 10-1466 is about the best way to go . Cheap to buy , easy to tune up , and lots of parts around . A little pump tweaking by someone who knows what they are doing makes a stock 1066 a real good puller , I know , been pulling Green Ones against them for 30 years . If I wasn't so old and bull headed I would have one but if I ran a Red one down the track it would cause heart attacks around here .

In the newer ones after the antique class type I would have to say a IH. I love the Deeres and Olivers but realistically I have seen that red in the winners money alot more times han any other color. As long as everything is pure stock most of it is how the tractor balances as I see very few ever run out of power any more.

My opinion is any 66 seris IH or 6030 JDs really seem to get with the program too. At least that is what always seems to give me 2nd thru 5th in heavy classes. light classes MM seems to really make alot of lugging torque. This is my opinion

It's as close to an actual answer as you can get to an unanswerable question. There's no such thing as a guaranteed winner for every track, ever sled, every division and every pull.

back in the days when I was riding the pullin sleigh, the Ford 8000, JD 4020, AC 190 and IH 1466 all took turns in the winners circle. There was always a Ferguson 1150 that tryed but never made it to first. There wasn't any Case around for some reason.

Case 1175. A little tuning on the pump will make 250 hp and well balanced.
