I want to stroke my 50. Can anyone tell me what kind of crank to use, or what I need to do to my existing crank to allow for a 7" stroke? I already have a .090 over bore in the cylinders. I also want to shave the head and dome the pistons. Any help would be appreciated.

I am surprised someone hasn't posted for you yet. Send your crank to one of the crank guys. I used Merfeld, others use others. Keith's number is 563-582-8710.

I'll speak to the later B's as I would think the crankcases would be similar. You can go a little over 7 without creating a nightmare for yourself in a B, I would assume that the 50 would be similar. Tell him you want the Oliver rods, like the last set he did for me with the socket head capscrews countersunk for clearance(Ray Castner). At 7" you may have to do a little grinding on the rear case, but not much. You won't go clear thru up to about 7.5 but it starts to get busy up on top of the case. Not sure where the oil pump or pressure head is. At 7" if he clearances the cam, you shouldn't need much extra work in there either making the rods clear the cam. When you go bigger, you start getting into the exhaust lobes pretty heavy. Give him or one of the crank guys a call and get your orders in now, they will start filling up the shops before you know it.
