also, what gear can I pull in at 6500-7500? G is stock but runs very well. thanks for the help!

i have a 45 GM and i only run 1st gear, its stock with 149x38s on it, i only get about 80 feet when i tried 2nd, 1st gets me down there.

Gears is something that I think about a lot.

Last night I ran 4th, 5500 pound class with 18.4x38 tires... 306feet. This was a loose, wet kinda sloppy track. If it had been a hard track... 2nd or 3rd... more then likely 3rd.

Tires size, horse power,... track, weather.. .everything needs to be looked at close!

and what kinda hp numbers you runnin..... .many more then 412 cubes..lol..... .we have a G that just has .090 m&w's and a flathead, 65hp, everything low gear, kills in the 8000 on a half ways decent track. we used to have it running better and it would handle the 9000, but it has a cracked head and needs torn down..... .

I doubt you'll ever get out of 1st with a good-running stock "G", and you might even power out in 1st on a good hooking track. Is your tractor completely stock and still has the all-fuel manifold and pistons? Going to aluminum hi-comps and a cold manifold will get you to right around 50 horsepower.
