I adjusted the govenor which didn't seem to make much of a difference. It still, under heavy load, will lag and come back a couple of times. could it be fuel or timing related?

Deereman - Here"s some things I"ve run into, not sure if all of them apply to yours.

1. On the 1947, the throttle linkage goes from the governor thru the fuel tank bracket - seen em hang up in thre.
2. What are you running for a carb?
3. Take the hose off the carb and let it run into a bucket - crap can build up in the bottom of the tank or in the valve and slow fuel down. It will keep up for a while and then hesitate - when it hesitates, it"ll partially fill the bowl back up.
4. What are you running for fuel? How old is it and do you keep it sealed up?
5. and just out of curiosity, what are you running for class, MPH and weights/RPMs.

its 4 11/16 x 7 1/4, 10:1 compression, 106 octane VP leaded racing fuel. it runs in a 3.8 mph class at 3500 and 4000 pounds
