What is the Best Engine to use in an Oliver 88 Chassi in an Open Non Turbo Class? Engine must bolt in without a lot of modification. The Class has no rmp or cube limit. Is a 195 Waukesha the best or something else?

Oliver Puller: I can save you the trouble--I have a 4-main block 88 engine with a Super 99 head that spins 5500 to 6000RPM. Pulls 5th gear in 4500 to 5500lbs class at 23MPH wheel speed with 18.4-38's.

Have a few more hooks in the next few weeks and then its available. Not trying real hard to sell it, but have a few people interested in it. I'm planning on building another motor over winter for my 88. Send me an email.

it would be best to leave that 88 home! You can't put a big enough engine in it! later

How big can you take a 310 and still turn rmp?

Well a 4 3/8" bore will put you at 390 cubes. Offset grinding the crank will put you over 400. How many RPM are you allowed or do you want to turn?

I would like to turn a lot of rmps, in the neighborhood of 5500. there is no rmp limit in the class that we run. Tractor will be running in 4500 - 6500 weight class.

Then you probably don't want to increase the stroke more tha offset grinding you present crank will get. Can you run the diesel head converted for spark plugs? You are going to want to lighten up the rotating assembly (aluminum rods, light weight flywheel, automotive pistons, etc.). You might want to give Brad a call at Maibach Tractors in Creston Ohio or Riverside Engines.

I personally like the 310 more intake ports on the head. Plus the seven main caps never hurt.
