Hello all, i have lucked into a JD 70 gas, and well i'm a firm believer in restoring them to original specs. Well this 70 is the goofest machine i ever used and decided that it will be made into a puller instead of for farm use. I have some ideas and want to discuss them with someone that has been done this road before. I look forward to your comments.

Any old 70 in similar condtion to any old G. Is still a superior tractor with option live pto & power steering. Bonous as the hydraulics are always live. And the engine runs smoothers while making more power on less fuel. Too bad the JD test engineers at Nebraska always cranked the main jet adjustment 5+ turns wide open for the absolute peak HP. Leaner at 0-2 turns would have improved the fuel efficiency at the expense of only a HP or two. 1st gear is way fast. A sound condition stock engine. Will handle 6500lbs on the stickest of clay tracks with 15.5x38's.
