At the Half Century of Progress II show at Rantoul, Illinois August 26, 27, 28 2005 where a Worled Recored was set for the largest plow (60-16" bottons) bing pulled by three 110 hp Case steam engings, there was an unstyled A John Deere with an Oldsmobile diesel engine mounted in the tractor in place of the two cylinder engine. It was a very nice well engineered converstion.

The bellhousing of the V-8 is bolted to a plate covering the crankcase where the block is supposed to be. The 90 degree drive is just a vehicle differential gear set inside the crankcase. Done right the tractor would still keep the live pto if it had one.
