It takes about 5 hours to cut,fit weld and grind a set of 38" rims.Plus steel and materials. So you can figure your price on that.At$80 a set that guy is just making peyrole.

Where are you located? If your close I might be able to do them for you. We would need the size though for an accurate estimate and how much width to add.

I heard of a place here in MI that was set up to do it quickly and charged $50 a rim I think. It's steep, but not too bad. I'll try to find out who it was I was talking to.

You thing that $50 per rim is steep for widening? Do you think that you could cut the wheel, cut and bend the strip and weld two beads around the rim in less than 1 hour? Even if you cut two different rims and welded them together for the extra width, $50 in labor would be cheap.

By the way, even a 34" rim is almost 9 feet of weld per joint.

When you put it that way, no, that is a deal. When you look in my wallet, it seems a bit steep. Youe get the idea. Haha. I'd have all day in to a job like that.

It can certainly be done, but it is expensive! I checked a few places and it looked like over $500 to widen a pair of 34" rims. We finally found a Mennonite fellow that would do it for $40 each. It is labor intensive and unless you find someone who doesn't value their labor, you will pay through the nose.
