using a router to cut tires?

anyone ever done this? seems like I heard of someone on here doing this. does a router spin enough rpm"s that it don"t just grab the rubber and jump or does make a pretty clean cut?

Does anyone know where you can get a bar and chain to make a grinder in to a chain saw .I pesonally have seen it in action on 15.5 38 and on four wheel drives.

I just did a top cut on a set of 20.8 x38's using a portable hand planer. Worked very well.

I have used a router to cut the fronts of the bar, and it does work. A carbide bit will last longer, but can't be sharpened without special stuff. If the rubber starts getting hot, move to another treadbar. When using a planer to cut the tops, I'll work on 5 or 6 at a time so I can always work on a cool spot. Mike

Miller Tire sells a disc for a grinder that I hear works pretty good. I use a disc in my right angle grinder that has a bunch of overlaying flaps using the corses grit that is available. Tractor Supply has them and theywork real well but get ready for a lot of rubber dust and smoke. Wear one of these disposable filter masks to stop breathing the dust.
