Leroi rods are .5 in longer than allis rods. Rod ratio plays a big factor, but the rest of the engine has to be built to take advantage of it. Some of the Leroi heads are way better than allis heads, the intake runners are thicker when sonic tested and can be enlarged larger than any of the allis heads (wc -170). A big factor for an engine with siameased intake ports and a fireing order that demands 2 cylinders breathe on the port progressively. There again the rest of the engine needs to be built to take advantage of it. A good cheap build would be to use the rods and find an automotive piston to fit the 4.125 bore D17 sleaves and keep the compression reasonable. The Allis pistons would be way to tall with the long rod. Mild porting on either head and the Leroi manifold Would perform fairley well in a "stock" type class and wouldn't break the bank.

thanks for the info sod buster2 . I guess i sould have told you that my tractor is past stock all ready with a 4.125 bore and 5.250 stroke. So cheap power went out the window sometime ago. Looking for ways to make over 100 hp.
