Safety kill switch ?

Where can I get a safety kill switch that actually opens the circuit rather than closes it like the ones for trailer brakes some people use ? Thanks

720, It looked pretty silly but I once saw a guy wire up a simple AC receptacle in series with his ignition primary circuit and his kill switch worked simply by pulling the plug out which broke the circuit.

If you had to use a normally open switch (like trailer brake safety switches) that would have to wire to the ignition coils low output (to distributor) side to kill the ignition by grounding out the coil which is the same as the points would never open.

HOWEVER, I feel much safer and its a much better engineering practice, to use a normally closed safety switch which opens on activation and removes voltage form ever getting to the coil. Thats how I would do it same as it sounds like you plan to.

Go to a watersports store where they sell parts for jet skis. Tell them you want a safety kill switch for a jet ski, sea doo, etc. The one I bought was $14.95 plus tax. They may be on eBay too. These run a closed circuit until the plug is pulled. Hope this helps.

Thanks I wasn`t aware they had anything like that on a Jet ski. I will give it a try.

I have heard people recommend a RV (camper trailer) store. I"m not sure if that is the open circuit your looking for, but that is the place that I"ve heard to go to for kill switch parts.
