What modifications can I do to make an sc into a puller? I already have the tractor and its got a cracked block so I figure I might as well go with what I have. Since I pretty much have to build a motor from scratch I might as well ask if there is a bigger block that could fit in there? DC? Bore? Stroke? Head? Carb? I would like to find otu anything and everythin about these tractors. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Kroner

DC makes great puller stock. If you go wild with the motor rear of block is the weak link, I know that for a fact. I can't hardly belive the casting on the SC much beefier than the DC. DCPULLER

would also recommend a dc, or if you know someone with a machine shop, try this, it works.

dt466 IH sleeves, 429 ford pistons,(4.30 bore), shave head .100, find bigger carb, use stock cam and stroke. idles stock until you put power to it.

Is the dt466 and 429 pistons for the sc or dc?

I don't want this to come off as a cut down, but the best thing to do with the Sc is restore it and take to some shows. The engine is to small and the tractor is to heavy for pulling. Look for a DC or a LA Case.

Ive already restored one SC and this is just left over parts. It is complete except for a cracked block. Will the DC or L/LA motor fit in there? Im 17 and money doesnt come easy so im kinda stuck with what I got. I do have access to a machine shop and can do all of the work. Kroner

The engine block on the dc is bigger than SC block, not sure if you will have enough metal left to work with on the transmission. The LA block is out of the Question. My Dc was competitive when we had a 4.5 mph class, no longer competitive in the 6 mph we have now.
I need a good solid 100 hp out of the dc, which translates to money.I'am still saving up. The Dc's are a blast to pull, and she will be back one day.

Mike is right, i think you could make a good puller out of an SC but it would take lots and lots of $$$$$ you can buy good DC's for a lot less than it would take to build a SC that could start the boat tom

Gee GUYS i know a DC is the tractor of choise BUT so is a farmall M and theres still a lot of people that build farmall H to pull in a liter class where most M's or DC' are knot leagle and at the peice of parts from CASE for a SC you could modify the SC and it would knot a mutch larger expince, just think of the money guys put in a H, and the SC is more balanced than an H,My SC pulls great but starts in too high of weight class(4500) but if you lite weight one with a little more power it would be tough to beat!
