I was wondering what would be a good size to use for pulling . I have 15-5-38 on it now and I loose traction in the 7500 and 8500 . I was wonderind if 20-8-38 or 18-4-38 good year power torques would be good . would the 20-8-38 be to much tire? would I benefit more if I used 8 ply verses 6 ply?

Dad runs a Turbo'ed 660 at 8K & 9K and in 2nd high at 5 MPH he'll spin out his 20.8 38's. I think a 560 w\o a turbo would be about right with a set of 18.4 38. Thats what we're putting on the 560 we are building. Around here everyone runs 18.4 or 16.9 38 on 4-560's.

I know a guy that pulls a 560 that has the 263ci engine that dyno's 61 horse, and he has 18-4-34 tires, and in the 10,000, he can barely handle 1st, on the low side torque. 20's i believe would be too much. I have a 1962 560 that dyno's 80 horse that does really well with 15-5-38's firestone's that are full of fluid. Best of luck!
