for you guys with the big cube G's. What are you doing for carb? Looking at some pretty radical stuff for next year. 1200+cubes. How can I feed it?

Jerries head, manifold and a modified 51 carb from Roberts is the easiest part of the whole engine buildup. If you want even more flow,send the entire induction system/head to be Extrude Honed.

How bout a fabricated manifold and a separate carb for each cyl? Might be a little tricky synchronizing the linkage but a big dog has to eat.

I am trying to interpret the rules... I've pulled Div 3 for quite a while but really not that familiar with Div 4. It doesn't look like you can fab manifolds in Div 4. It also says you have to stick with same number of barrels as the original. Doesn't specifically say only one carb? From NATPA Division 3 rules.
12. Replacement carburetors with no modification of carburetor or manifold. Overhang of carburetor to manifold is not allowed. Only stock appearing manifolds are allowed.

from NATPA Division 4

10. Tractors must have the stock engine, frames, transmission, rear end and axle housings or manufacturer�s replacement. Stock heads and their replacements are to remain unchanged in outside appearance. No 7 bolt main blocks in Olivers; no (12) port heads; no 99 heads; no 1600 series heads. AC - WC/WD/WD45 can use D-17 engine; IH - H, 350; M, 450. JD - A/B/G can use power blocks. No M-M 800 heads or blocks. Dual exhaust not allowed except after stock manifold.

12. Any agricultural carburetor allowed. Number of barrels, throats, venture, etc, must be that of the manufacturer for that make and model. Exception: John Deere tractors may run updated (duplex) heads, manifolds and carburetors. Interior enhancement of stock or manufacturer�s replacement manifolds permitted

Yes, in DivIV-V you can run the Duplex carb... either use the 70Allfuel head.. or Jerry's Machine is making a manifold to run a duplex on the single barrel head... If you run the 70 allfuel head you can remove the center out of the manifold and allow it to draw off both sides of the carb.. JDGnut

That's probably the best route to go if the rules where you're pulling will allow it. Cutting the center out of the manifold will essentially give you double the fuel of what it feeds off the factory line, plus you can do a lot of mods to the carburetor.

Block failures and split tractors have occured with blocks relieved less and subjected to fewer HP. How about a custom billet main case/cylinder block?

You bring up a good point. A task bigger than getting everythign to swing might be keeping the tractor in one piece. Most of us saw pictures of Shellums G break in two a couple of years back and he was under 1000 cubes.

I hear ya! So when I built my G, I fixed that problem. I run a block spacer so you dont have to grind in the crankcase at all to weaken the structure of the tractor. It sets the moto ahead 3inches, some people rant and rave... but I say, "im just being safe!"

There's only two things I have to say to that...1-I think you're dreaming on the cubes. Maybe you can fool some into thinking it's possible or stir up some talk, but not me, I have built big cube stuff. 2-even if you were able to make it fit, which I HIGHLY doubt, It WILL NOT LAST.

And yes, "big stuff", you are in the right ballpark on size.

For 1200 cubes you're looking at 8 inches of bore and 12 inches of stroke. You better go billet on the crank! I talked to a guy several years ago who was building one with an 8 inch bore and 10 inch stroke. I'm not sure how he got the block to fit. You'll get to move the cam too.

Moving the cam is old news! Shelums do it when they run the 8inch bore.

I saw a G not 2weeks ago that had a 10inch stroke, and "stock" 6 3/8's bore. He ran it on pump gas with a low ratio and was not happy!

Hes even made some even fire stuff... wicked! He is the guy to talk to, and Jerry's from Jerry's head and block/manifold.
