Did you see Lawrence Wilson's LP intake he made (GB)? I do believe it was almost a work of art. Not real suitable for gasoline, but WOW!!!!

I'll bet you the tractor that it wouldn't change its power 2-3% either way going to gas. Now if you bolt it on a baby engine or a low rpm one if would have an effect but Its never had to lug either way and I pull in the 8200 and 9200lb class. If a carb. is not atomizing fuel its going to hurt anything, The big multi-venturi gas carbs are pretty efficient. On a 4cyl you wouldn't want the runners quite as long. I laugh everytime I hear somone tell me it wouldn't run on gas.Kind of like all the people that told me it wouldn't make power and it wouldn't idle.Funny as hell all the experts in the world that never build or do anything!

Not tryin to get a dig at ya LW. I didn't think it was made to run on gasoline. But I am not too keen on how the carburetion works on some of those monsters. You are right. I've never built anything big or close to that. I see tractors running big HP that idle like a watch (mostly MM) and they never fail to impress me. I welcome any education you can give me on carburetion. As far as I'm concerned you rank up with the best of the MM guys. Doug Henderson is up in my neck of the woods. His big monster motors are pretty neat. Sorry if you thought I was runnin' my yapper. That was not my intention. Always glad to have someone whose been there and done that set me straight.

LW and Henderson are wannabees! For christ sakes, they are running their tractors on LP (I thought anybody that built a motor since 1940 would have known that's an antique fuel)! Plus the fact they are at least 100 cubic inches of the truly big M&Monsters that are out there!

!940? MM had barely made any lp tractors in 1940. As far as not being the biggest that may be but i would rather have something that i could start up without having to worry about it blowing up. Just like at Princeton IN this year it was reall impressive to see it towed off the track without even dropping the hook in the hitch. And they can call an airplane carb agricultre all day but it is still an airplane carb with multiple ventures which is illegal even in your precious natpa.

Actually I'm pretty damn impressed that these wanna be's (doug and LW) can get so much power from "antique fuel"since all these other"great" engine builders have to use race fuel to achieve any HP.I would deal with either of these fellows,In fact my brother has a GVI LP he bought from a fellow in Indiana,It was built by Hendersons,I'm sure my brother would like the competition If any one has any, because he has none at this point.Sure does thrash on those big famalls everybody brags about.LW will be getting my business when I build my 445 MM engine, and yes I build my own engines.Rich Bennett

Well Richie, tell your brother to load up his G-VI and bring it over to the NATPA summer pull on July 2nd in Mendon, IL. He'll learn the difference between a good 4-cylinder tractor and a great 6-cylinder one real fast! What classes does it pull in if you dont mind me asking?

Does that mean a 4 cyl.farmall M would never be competition against a 6 cyl Oliver 88? I think not,4 or 6 cyl can be made equally effective,In a given class.

Mr Witness(pussboy who wont use his name)If you don't mind driving to NY you can come pull at one of our pulls and run what you got,It won't be enough,Our rules are similar to natpa,Oh can these hot tractors you speak of pull with turbo tractors? We can and win! Name some hot famous pullers you have built, where is your shop?your website any ads anywhere?Do you have a Name?Anything LW built would smoke you anyway, maybe you could pull against him too,Rich

Rich, I'm not saying that I own one of these tractors that will dominate LW and anything Henderson has built, but I have seen them run enough to know that you guys aren't even close. Sure, you might win against turbo tractors, but could you win a light superstock class against such tractors as the Levee Leaper (a national level light superstock)? BTW, I'm sure alot of those "1500" tractors that show up at LW's pull are really competitive tractors (more like junk that gets dragged out of the fence row). Later losers

motec (witness),When did you see our GVI pull?Have you been to a pull in NY recently? Our do you know for fact that all GVI's pull the same?I'm sure this tractor you speak of comes from Mendon, correct. If it pulls with light SS why would it pull NATPA? seems like it would be more fun beating on light SS tractors,a naturally aspirated tractor doing all that damage would certainly be a crowd pleaser.Besides 5000lb class is robbing the cradle with a GVI,throw some weight on pull it where it belongs.Sorry to vent at you,but I think we should try to help people on this site, not dump on them, pulling and building tractors should make friends not problems,If everyone built the same tractors why bother pulling,Rich

confuse Witness with Motec Eng. I happen to know that he likes LP. I highly doubt that he would consider it an antique fuel. And he is not from Mendon Il

Keep the MM faith LW. It's good to see MM goin' strong in the bigger classes. I slap together budget speed limit mix and match MM parts for local pulls. That is why I get a kick out of visiting the bigger events and seeing "antique fuel" LP gas kick butt. The MM show in Kalamazoo this weekend had plenty of LP. Back to my original question before the keyboard hatchets started in, that nice manifold will run gasoline if the cubes are there? I think it was ChadS that sent me some nice pics when you were building it. Catch ya later.

Well I am set-up for the rules we have here not some running all over the country and not in the area I pull in. How about this why don't you load up and come pull at Denton farm park on the 4th of July. I'll bet you never been to antique pull that big. There will be 3 days of antique pulling and plenty of competition. There will be about 1500 antique tractors there come on, and if they when they'll earn it. Ottpa.net has the rules.

Mr Wilson,

I have looked at pictures of your work. Your machines look like they make some good power. The organization you pull with obviously allows fabricated intakes and exhaust. Almost none of the organizations in my part of the country do. Based on your experiance what increase do you see, on a modified large cid engine, with OEM versus fabricated manifolds. I am assuming that your rules have rpm limits.

Thank you,

Jon Aller
