I appreciate the offer on that crank. I found one yesterday in Middletown Ohio. Its already on its way to get bigger. I was wondering what your thought are on cutting the divider out on a 70 LP intake. The one Im running has been completly shelled out to nothing . Thats the way Keith did it. Im not sure why. Basically I have a duplex head with a single barrel manifold. I have no idea why this is done like that. If anybody has any experience with these please let me know.

The manifold is cut out so the engine can suck off of BOTH barrels instead of each cylinder having just one. So did he just cut it all out completely or did he knife edge where he cut out so the airflow isnt completely screwed up? Cutting out the manifold is the right thing to do if it is done properly.

Im not really sure what you mean by Knife Edge.He actually cut through the outside several times and sealed it up and cut more out. It seems to ice up alot.

By knife edge, I mean make a gradual transition between where it is two seperate ports to one big one. Is the head cut out too or just the manifold?

Duplex carb with a single throat manifold? Yeah, It can work. On the 730 gasser we got, we set the exchanger on cold, it will sweat and sometimes frost on colder days, but thats a stock manifold. Uusally when they ice up, it means they need more air, cause its moving so fast through the manifold, What that manifold does, is it increased manifold vacuum, put the duplex carb with 2 metering stems with 2 venturis makes a great fuel mixture, due to the high manifold pressure. Maybe the intake runner is not big enough, but Id think if it needs to be bigger, then the stock manifold would be what to use. But, if you could make that intake work with the right carb cfm, and it does sound as if it could use more air,, arent you limited as to how big those 2 bbl carbs are? Werent they a one size fits all carb? ChadS

THey freeze because of pressure indifferentiation

Its normal when you greatly increase air speed because you, raised comp.,or stroked, bored, etc,Its just like contents in a high pressure bottle leaving the bottle at that point of pressure drop there will be a dramatic temp.drop.

Drew, The head is still divided(barely). No the manifold isnt knifed as you put it. You can put your hand inside it and reach your fingers through it.
