I have noticed this as well. I am one of them that is not going to attend many. I went a few weeks ago. It was my first pull of this season. I noticed a lot of the guys that used to pull in the slow classes are not there. I soon realized why. I have a stock tractor and was pulling againt folks with 50% more cubic inches than stock and about 30% over on RPMS. A stock tractor is not competitive anymore, even in the slower classes. I am not whining because I got beat, just that I do not have the funds to make a competitive "stock" tractor like a lot of the guys. I might go every now and then, but maybe not.

We live between 3 different sled/pulling groups, have pulled with all 3 over the years. With 2 of the groups, they have pretty close rules on what can pull in farm stock and stock classes (where we pull mostly). The other group has VERY loose rules (which do get changed depending on who gets beat--- remember, if you can't beat them, get them DQ'ed). They have open tractors with cut tires running in 1st gear in their stock classes.

Guess which groups are thriving and which one's sled is for sale and gone from 12 pulls a year to 3???

That happens alot when they start changing rules to suit themselves. Changing speed limit and tire sizes in stock class that doesnt permit certain tractors that came from the factory with certain tires . If a tractor came factory equipped with a certain tire it should be allowed to pull in any class that it can meet the weight requirements as long as it is still in stock form, no alterations such as aluminum and fiberglass parts. That is what starts running off pullers. Just my humble opinion.
