Heard the payback at the Dekalb pull was really bad. 31 in one class and 4th doesn't even get back enough to cover the entry fee.

I was there and was very dissapointed. All you had to do was listen to alot of the pullers that said they would not be back and I am on that list. I was told they wanted to get rid of antiques and I think they will get ther wish. Good luck in the future but I doubt we will see many more Dekalb Superpulls

To all pullers, I attended the Dekalb super pull for quite a few years before I decided to compete in the action.I always felt that the super pull was one of the premier events of the year. I know that I am not much of a challenge to the ohio pullers but I really enjoy the privilge of meeting the nice people at the different pulls. I have been pulling since the early 60's and have been involved on both sides of the fence.Putting togeather one of these pulls is not a real easy thing to do, and i used to have a lot of complaints early on about how poor things were run, untill,I had the oppertunity to be one of the controlling figures.Tractor pulling is supposed to be fun, competition, and again fun. If you go into it expecting to make a windfall then you might better put your money into lottery tickets and save everyone from your complaining and whining.Everyone from the drivers-Builders,to the flagmen, the track operaters, the tech men and sled operators work very hard to put on a worthy event for everyone including the fans.It would have been nice to to be in Columbus but the times dictate how to operate these days. I want to thank the boys from Ohio, and i look foreward to more years of pulling with you. To Joe and all, keep doing the best you can and have a good year Larry Tallman Caledonia, New York

around my area they pull 200 for first, no matter what, sponsers and stuff help with payment. come pull with us if you want some payback in michigan. We pull for money because fuel to drive is 2.29, fuel for the tractor is 3.99, and entery fee is 20.00. people that are set up to pull should have some reward.

All antigue classes got 50% pay back just like they always do. We paid 40,30,20,10, do the math. If someone didn't get the right amout they should call me 937-355-5251, or post your real name and phone # like I do, then I can call you. If you think what you are saying is right then why don't you put your real name on it. In the future if you want me to respond to your message then sign your name and a phone # unless you don't know what you are talking about. COATPA has been putting on tractor pulls for antiques for almost 20 years, what have you guys done for antiques?Remember if you respond to this message, put your real name where your mouth is. Thank you, Joe

Joe, no disrespect sir, but there is something not right here,,, Last weekend I went pulling, we pay back 70% for payback, with 7 tractors in the class, first was 42 dollars!!!! with only 7 in the class!! I do know that it does cost an arm and a leg to do what you guys do over there, and it is, or was a grand spectacle of antique pulling at its best. A huge pull like dekalb oughtta pay out a bit more than 50% or 40 bucks to win. These guys made an effort to do what they do best, and they alomst dont have enough $$ left from entry fee, to go to Mcdonalds to eat after the pull! Show em how much you promoters love antiques and pay em back more than a little bity 40 dollars! A big pull like that to win should pay a prize, a real prize, gift certificates from Mcdonalds?? LOL,, Maybe not, but maybe you guys could dig a little deeper since its 30 bucks a hook???!! I know,, I know,, but come on!! I agree with Tyler,, the antiques made that pull, and now it does seem to be taken over by the bigger more open type pullers, wheres the room for the forefathers?? JMHO, remembr, no disrespect to you intended sir! ChadS

OK here's the way it works, entry fee $30, $25 if you pre register, it cost $10 for Insurance and membership, this is required by our Insurence Co. Now you are down to $20 or $15 if you pre registered 50% of that to be payed back. We payed back $12.50 per tractor. If you have 20 tractors in a class that is $250 to pay back, 40% of that is $100 not $42. Even if there was only 10 tractors you would get $50 for first. Also I will tell you where COATPA came from, it came from the hard working people that made it what it is, weather it is antiques or super stocks. We pull all kinds of tractors and trucks. If we pulled only antiques we would be out of buisness, 50% of the entry fee will not pay the bills. When we have a antique tractor pull and charge $20 and give 1/2 of that back we come up short, and no one in our club gets payed. If you still have questions, call me I can tell you a lot more on the phone.

I went to a pull a few weeks back where the hook fee was $5 and the first three places got a hat. This weekend we're pullin' for trophies and the hook fee is $7.50. No screamin' tractors allowed....no trucks either...just us regular tractor guys.

the extra 2$ came from a non-member, threw the whole thing off! LOL! As the years go by, the supers, seem to keep coming and coming dont they? More and more each year,, which in fact,, should make the cost of insurance go up for the promoters. I understand why that would be,, but is it the exact same insurance required to put on the antique side of the event? Blanket coverage? im wondering if the insurance would be, or could be different between these types of classes to make, or alter revenue that you bring in. as big as that pull really is,, and what you have coming in there,, I could belive that the insurance premiums could be outragous when it comes time to pay the promoter. if a smaller operation ran the pull, like an outside organization, like COATPA, or what have you,, could the antiques run off the club insurance? Is there a difference? Thanks for the reply. Do you still pull those cockshutts? ChadS

Why is there a $30 hook fee? I looked at some of the advertising for this pull and noticed that you made a big deal about the big diesel trucks ,farm stock.super farm, division XXXXIII,and so on . Then down at the bottem of the page it said ,in real small letters "antiques to pull at noon everyday". Lets not forget Joe how all this got started. If it wasnt for the antiques COATPA would be nothing. I used to pull with you guys alot, but I feel somewhere along the line the antiques have been pushed to the side. Tyler Neff (937)372-5438

Thanks Tyler

Funny, I called one of the guys before the pull and he said the antiques were 50% payback. I didn't make it to the pull. I was getting some unplanned water injection in mine.

I guess we are lucky to not have paybacks in our area. If we did, people would really spend crazy money trying to win. They spend enough already to win a ribbon or trophy, I can't imagine what they would do for a little money!

I wonder what the payback was for the evening classes. I know I will not go back until antiques get garenteed at least fifty percent payback. With all the money they saved on the facility, and sponsors they have someone made a lot of money. Tell us Joe where is it?????

Better be serious if you pay that much. Does the COATPA still have anything to do with Dekalb? Chad
