thanks, if you have a name and a number, I just can't see putting 7 or 8,000 in an engine to win maybe 100$ a nite!

It's more than $7-8000, but you can email me if you want. He may be able to build something more in your price range.

Where can you go and win $100??? Seems everyone is going to trophies these dayse. So you spend $50 in gas for the truck, $20 in gas for the tractor, $20-50 in entry fees... Not complaining, just commenting.

All the fairs around here in pa pay anywhere from 50 to 100 for 1st and pay out 5 places, if your lucky enough to be in the top 5.

I couldnt tell ya on how to beat him. Just build what you think will do the job for what you have intentions on doing with your tractor. if you want a monster, then open up the checkbook, if not, think about how many HP you are looking for, and go from there to look at costs to build. just a ball park figure on what most parts cost,, 100hp and under your looking at a shade under 3000 depending on where you go,, 100 and up could get anywhere from 3000-5000 and be a really good engine. Id look for around 125 hp if you really need that much, thats not too hard to get out of an M, Look around to engine builders in this field that may have a good used stroker shortblock laying around,, never know,, you mite get lucky, and find one in your price range all ready put together??!! Ask him how much is cost him. A block like that in an IH (if done right) could cost an easy $4000, especially with the amount of reinforcement it would be needing. But, yes, it can be done, but there aren't many..where are you located?

What is the stroke they use, what CI are these engines I pull with a guy that says his is 585 cubes and says its marletts old engine,It does run well but no water in the block,I don"t believe in building an engine without water in the block, seems dependability has to suffer,He can only make one hook and has to shut it down,so much for pulloffs.Amazing the power they can get from an M.

Try around $10-$12,000 for a 5 incher! They get more and more blow each time they run, too!

I think it can be done. You would have to move the bores around some to get it all to fit. I have seen some 4.875 blocks and you could probably squeeze 5.000 in there.

Anything is possible. I did not belive it was possible till I made a copper head gasket for one that big. Its like they machine out all the original block, and make their own design for the internal structure of the block where the cyls sit. That kind of machine work in my opinion if it lives, mite be worth that kind of $$ Just depends on how good the bottom end is. Creative innovation of todays technology. Chad
