looks like the easiest way to get more piston travel is to use off-set wristpins...

whare can I find me some for my jd A..???

Naw..I mean Off-set wristpins...so that piston can really get going before it moves the rod...like a running start... I always set ma engines up on the loose side..ya know..always at least 10 pownds under-torked.. Someone said to have less than 10 pownds of ol presure at 6,ooo rpm...everytime I try that it blows up before i git it wound up thet fer... I figur 1/4" offset in the wrister pin ot to pep ma A up perty good...

Hay Herk, I use spring loaded rist pens. Hears how it werks. Wen tha piston is going up the spring is compressed and you have low compression, but when tha piston gits to the top it continues up to create a spike in compression without taking power to make the high compression, and also doesn't cause detonation. I use ChadS magic governer springs sense none of the 37 I bought to use on my governer ever worked on that.

The crankshaft is what determines piston travel. If you are meaning to say you want to move the piston farther up to gain compression, then you could make offset bushings in the piston, use a smaller wrist pin and move the pin down in the piston.

If you choose to go w/ offset bushings, I'm guessing it will be pretty expensive. Depending on what your local machine shop has for equipment, they may find it a royal pain in the a$$ to offset the wrist pin hole in both sides and get it straight, and charge you accordingly.
