why is it so easy to get HP and RPMs out of the 400 series IH engines?
why has it taken 20 years for anyone to come close?

You said it all. HP and RPMs. It takes two things to make horsepower - torque and shaft rotation. If you're lacking torque, you bump the speed up to compensate. 200 HP at 2200 rpm = 477.4545~ lb.-ft. of torque. 200 HP at 2400 rpm = 437.6666~ lb.-ft. of torque. Guess who rates their engines at 2200 compared to IH at 2400 or more? Solid. Stable. Still John Deere. What, are you tired of getting schooled on this at the BB?

what would you know about power? you push a redsled. you are just like the powerchoke boys ! now you'll tell me that ford is also better then dodge and makes more power. lol never happen i'd love to get around you and smoke you just like all the of wannabes. redgirl look at the big picture who is still making farmequipment and whos soldout how many times? not even American owned now .deere must be doing something right and there owners also.ya know to beat somebody ya gotta be better then them , like cat was going to be better then deere combines . do your homework before you open that little sissy redgirl mouth. will you be at the pulls this weekend in salem IN.? DOUBT IT still trying to figure out how you can put a deere engine in a redsled , never hold such a great one in that junk frame !!!

since you bring it up,it just so happens that we have a green and a red combine.
9610 and a 1680,the 1680 does all of the corn as the big green feedmill grinds the corn too much.
and if you would like to talk about JDs top notch rotor i'll put you in touch with my cousin who happens to have a 9750,service truck should go with them when they leave the dealers lot and tow it behind the combine.
his sets almost as much as it goes,and to think it only took deere 20 years to come out with a rotor that is #2 behind the red one.

oh i can set them just fine,dew in the morning and they have to be set.
need to be set when the dew drys off and again in the evening when dew comes on.
red one,set it and run it.

if they are so good then why have they been sold so many times ? you ever had 63.5 test weight corn ? i shouldn't asked that you are better because you have a redgirl tractor .i'll put our 9600's up against them and show ya never have any volunteer in our fields and always get anumber one sample when we sell it , so must be the way the combine is set !!!

i live in MN,been to ND pulling but that is as far west as i want to go.
but if you would like to meet at a brush pull somewhere i would be happy to.
can you get that green junk down to 7,000#?

It could be better air flow through the head, lighter bottom end components allowing more RPM`s and easier turning rear gears at high RPM`s. It could also be a simple factor like aftermarket parts availability. Even blocks that don`t match 400 series but are available. It could be some of those things but my knowledge is limited.

The 400 ser. eng. were built for hi rpms. hi comp.: & max. hp. trucks, with tractor pulling in mined by MR. LAGOD ::: THE GOD.

Is that why the current Internation DT466 is only rated up to a paltry 300 horsepower? The HO Cummins 5.9 for Dodge pickups is rated at 325, with 106 fewer cubic inches.

i believe you better check again,the 300 466 is not the big one.also you need to look at application,how many 400 hp 3406s did you ever see in construction equipment?
