Its easier than it looks! First, you need to know how much the transfer box weighs, then, along the rails, you need to be able to measure how far the box moves up the rails. That will be your distance pulled. Ok, our club uses the formula that looks like this,,, 83Xdistance pulled +3260 divide that by the weight of the tractor and driver= percentage pulled. Full pulls are when the box fully travels up the rails to the stop point, that is max distance. Ok, the weight box, on our sled, weighs 3260,, so instead of 3260, you use what the box estimatly weighs. Weigh the tractor, before, or after it pulls,,, Remember,,, the lightest tractor, that can pull like the big ones, and get good distances will always beat a heavy tractor. I have a pull this weekend on Sunday, when is the pull? Chad

they have a problem @shelby vill chad the sled is set up with a radar @3.5 mph the old guys want to pull in low gear the new guys want to pull 1st or like 2nd gear so they run with the sled radar the worst thing is the old guys dont realise that 75% persent of people has got there tractors set up with fast ring and pinions to run3.5mph and the guy that run total stock first gear find thim selves a little short????? ? so that why we thought they put a radar on the sled to level the playing field for both dis and percentage does not matter to me because i have a hi speed rear end that runs 3.5 mph in low gear!!!!! !

3.5 is fast. to offer classes where stockers, and mods pull together, you need to slow them all down. Its either that, or you split them all up, different rules yadda yadda yadda. either A,, let em run any gear, or B you slow em all down, back to 3mph. Most stockers can run 3 mph, at 10% over, except a JD with a creeper gear, but, if they are modified too, well then 2nd gear will help them too. its a toss up, and politics have to be used here. If your going to change something, play with the speed limits, and gear limits. Or, split them all up, farm stock, and mods. 3mph, and 3.5 mph. The guys with the fast rear ends should not be angry, cause usually, they have the engine to back them up. If it was my decision, Id slow em all down to 3 mph, just like USAP super farm stock rules. Look at that class!!! Its alot of fun, and anyone can win it, stock, or modified. JMHO, Chad

I think the biggest problem they have is there is a group of them that don't want to change/think they can't compete. SOOOOO they created "unstyled" classes and are completely against distance pulling. In my opinion those guys are killing that club. the distance guys don't care so much. They just want to pull. The club president is spending to much time and energy trying to make everyone happy. He's a great guy, and I wish him luck, but as long they try to run distance and percentage pulls separate they are gunna have problems.

As an alternative, they should do both on the same day. Everyone has to weigh in, so when they do have them mark the entry form dist or perc. You could then run all the tractors of any given weight at the same time any order, and let the computer they use to sort it all out. The perc. guys may be surprised by how they stack up, and vice-versa.

Man i hope I have time to pull with you guys some this summer. I have just about figgered out how to weight the Zb for both types of pulls.

Joe

P.S. Hey Scott will a U ring and pinion work in your G6? I have a U parter if it will.

Scott,

I will check around and see if I can find a R&P for you.

I agree. I like pulling, and I don"t care what kind. I just hope the disagreement does complete kill that club.

Joe
