The other day I was driving home from work and noticed an Oliver 1900 sittin in a barn. I drive by this barn all the time and this is the first time I seen the tractor. I turned around and went back to talk to the guy who owned it. Thats when I noticed that not only did the tractor have a blower on it , it also had what appeared to be a turbo on the other side. The man claimed that it came from the factory this way. I also noticed that it had a nice factory cover over the hole in the hood where the exaust should have been . I guess Im wondering if anybody has ever seen one of these tractors with a turbo and blower together. I know the Detroit is supposed to have a blwer but Ive never seen one with both. The owner said it came that way from the factory. Is this true? He told me the tractor was a 1963 model. Where could I find one of these and how much $ ? Thanx TYLER

Tyler it all depends on which factory we are talking about. Oliver never sold any 1900 or 1950's with a 4-53 equipped with the turbo in addition to the roots style blower. The 1950-T equipped with the six cylinder Oliver/Waukesha egine did.

Detroit diesel did build 4-53's equipped with a turbo. I have seen a number of them added to 1900 and 1950's. The truck exhaust manifold is usually used. It mounts the turbo on the lower right outside of the engine. Makes for a clean factory looking setup when a little time is taken. I personally prefer mounting it under the hood.
