I think you would draw allot more tractors if you had a 3.5 or 4mph class like NATPA or USAP has rather than a 5mph. I guess if you get enough of your locals that's all that matters.

The reason we set up the 5mph class is because the pullers want to get down the track a little quicker than normal. We're putting on a show for around 2000 people and they don't want to be hearing the horn blow all night. So, we're hoping the 5mph limit solves some of the horn blowing.

I think when you blend NATPA rules with local rules you are asking for confusion. Are your Division A tractors going to follow NATPA rules for Division II or Division III? Cut tires or no cut tires? Power blocks or no power blocks? You're still going to have horn blowers no matter what speed limit you set...everybody wants to push it to the limit. Just my 2 cents.

Sears Puller, I'm afraid you're right about the horn blowing, the real competitive guys will always push the limits. Our Div A welcomes all tractors, 1959 and older, from Div. II, III and IV but cut tires and motor mods will almost be a must to compete. It's called the Performance Antique Tractor Pull and it's being held in conjunction with some very hot Pro Stock and Pro Field Tractors and Pro Mod Trucks so we're looking to weed out the stock tractors. We're pulling the Pros on one side and the antiques on the other. The folks that paid $12 to see the big boys don't really want to see Div. II or even Div. III tractors for that matter. With that being said, we still want to put on a show where the pullers can come hang their ol' tractor out for a big crowd under the bright lights. The show has to be a step above a brush pull for insurance reasons and along with public safety(again for insurance reasons)we're having the RPM limits. Safety, in turn, requires us to use a set of rules that are already established, i.e. kill switches, bell housing blankets, wheelie bars, etc. We're hoping the two classes are cut and dry with no confusion. The NATPA rules that will apply are the general rules. I'll specify that on the flyer. If a puller thinks his tractor can compete he can bring it, he just has to abide by the general rules, the rules of safety and RPM allowances . To keep it somewhat on the level if you pull a tractor in Div B the tractor cannot pull in Div A.
