Hi all, I went to a CATPA pull in Four Oaks, NC today. Lot of people there but really confused. Can anyone tell me why they jump around in the classes so much? They don't go in sequence like 3500, 4000, 4500, and so on. There were 40 some classes and it makes for an all day event. They would go along these lines... 5500, 5000, 9000 ,4500, 6500, 12500, 4500 - This may not be the exact sequence, but it was along those lines. I don't like spending all day away from my family on a Sat afternoon - any comments welcome. I left at 6pm and there were still about 10-15 classes left.

The classes are Not drawn from a hat! There is a lot or work that goes into setting up the schedule. The class are set up so that you don't have to rush to change weights or hold up the show while you change weights. Also the spectators like to see some of all classes. Some come to see the Stocks, some the Heavy Farm Stocks, some the Turbos. This way we have a variety of tractors pulling. To me, it would very boring to sit and watch all the stocks pull at 3.5 mph, then all the Super Stocks, then all the Farm tractors, etc. We have to keep the fans happy thus keeping the sponsors happy. With out sponsors we will have no place to pull.

they draw numbers at the beginning of the season for pulling order that way it's fair for every class , and the large tractors don't have to be last every week

That's the craziest thing I have ever seen. Now it keeps EVERYONE there the whole day. I have been with a half a dozen clubs and to keep the heavy guys from being there till the end every time, they just flipped and and alternated light to heavy and then heavy to light next week. That way you don't spend your whole day there.

One reason they mix up the classes like that is so there is plenty of time for changing weights and re-weighing. Example if you are going to pull in the 5000, 5500, and 6000 classes, you don't have to rush, or be waited on.

Hey they are lots of good reasons like when 9000 stock pulls and there's 10 deeres in it you can go eat hamburger and come back and you ain't missed nothing!
