Looking for information on speeding up the blower on the 3-71 engine. Thanks for any help.

With big injectors run PROPANE! It will clean up the smoke and burn the extra fuel,run hotter,making big horsepower!

If all the oxygen is already used up burning diesel oil with fuel left over. How is reducing the amount of oxygen drawn into the engine by displacing it with LP. And adding even more fuel that can't burn?

well east coast you are starting in right dirrection with blower speed but there are some other things you need to do first get rid of the big injectors no matter how big the bucket the horse can only drink so much. we are geting 210 hp out of a 990 with very simple modifacations. been told it cant be done but i have seen it on dyno and my buddy has 2 room fulls of trophys. just got to think about what makes hp and forget the trick stuff. and after you get the motor built hook it to a silage blower for a couple years to get it broke in good couple things to remember (air) (fuel) ( compession) and the right temp make hp.

The blower can go -5%, standard or +5% with factory gears. Having seals installed like the 4-71 blowers used on street cars, a low restriction intake, a cleaned up four valve head and a free flowing exhaust system would gain more airflow. You are really only going to improve scavaging and not a whole lot of "boost" like a four stroke. Some natural aspirated 71's used N70 injectors but they were not emisisons legal. A stock four valve N series 3-71 with N70's at stock 2300 rpm. About 130HP on a good day. Try that combo out first. What do you have for tires and what weight class?

I have a stock 4 valve head I m using n130 for injectors, low restriction intake, and custom exhaust header. We have about 10 olivers and masseys in our local pulling club. they put on a good show, I have heard of some people using a marine engine kit that has higher compression, and I thought they were using a blower gear out of a 6-71, the gear would work as long as the blowers were on the same side and this was speeding them up. but Im not sure that is why I am asking. THANKS

The blower rotors all turned the same speed on the 71 series. Just made the rotors longer as the engines got bigger. For street/race use on automobiles. The blower conversion companies increase airflow and efficiency by installing seals on the rotors. Stock rotors have no seals and bypass a lot of air. There was the old low compression "S" series Detroit�s that didn't start without either or a block heater at below 50F. The later Turbo engines actually had higher compression than early "S" series. The "N" series had higher compression again. Much better starting & efficiency. And less smoke at any time if used with the later high pressure N injectors. Pretty hush hush as if it was a state secret??? Can�t purchase them new either , have to wonder why??? The Military had higher compression two piece Cross Head Pistons". Instead of the civilian one piece "Trunked pistons". Tried for years and still hav'nt found out exactly what is going on about that topic. Cleaning casting flash out of ports and rounding rough/sharp edges everywhere never hurt airflow. Port matching too. It's not impossible those 130's are starting to decrease power from being too rich and burning too cool. Try her on a dyno to find the peak HP fueling rate. That last extra 20-30% more fuel just makes mostly more smoke and a few % more HP. A turbo engine may need to run very rich in order to stay cool enough to prevent meltdown. How about hiding a nitrous bottle and plumbing a line into the block�s airbox? .From the transmission, bellhousing and into the engine. Who would look way back there for NO2 ?
