Why dont more pulls give out trophy's. Yes money help to pay some of your cost but what little money you get a think a trophy have a longer lasting effect. Especially for young pullers and even for some of us older ones.Im talking more about stock tractor where alot of us might only pull half dozen times a year. Just my thoughts been thinking about this for awhile and wanted to express myself.

TAKE THE MONEY MY @SS !
In pulling , with all the work, framing the cash, or taking a picture, is an idea ! (dammn) if that ain't funny!
2-year's ago , their were big trophy's on the line, on the first hook the m was in first place, when it came time to turn the river, on the second hook in the same class, as I was first off the deck, and the track needed water, I had to hold up while that process was done, I took the dry side, next 3 pullers took the wet side, my inexperience, I took fourth overall (out-of the-trophy), at the end of the day !
For 25bucks, 40-50, if ya need the money that bad, and if were all pulling for the money, better get a 1099 form filed !
I am not talking about division 4 and 5, you spend the money , you pull, and it is not a way to make a living !
(frame the check) spend half on a hot dog !
Just my opinion !

The reason I say take the money is I had so many trophys it got to the point, where do I put them? I gave them back to the club for the kids pedal tractor pull the trophys mean alot more to the kids then to me! Dont get me wrong I do have some very large trophys from Truck pulling but you also get $100.00 to $200.00 for winning and that does help pay for race fuel. Its all for fun is the way I look at it and if you win everybody you pulled against will remember you beat them at the last pull, dont need a trophy to prove it!! I have been pulling antique tractors and trucks for 10+ years now im 29 and see guys in there 50/60's that have to cry at the pulls over trophys they should give out TISSUES!!! LOL

that's an awesome attitude !
Don't hear much about people giving back these days, in any sport or life in general !

Didn't mean to come down hard on the issue, but sometimes that's the only way to learn what people are made of !

Nothing better than giving back and Kicking butt at the same time !

Keep up the great work fellow American !

we keep pull fee at $5.00 and give out trophy's. we have 250-300 on a average weekend pull. we discussed raising the entry fee and pay money back but it was quickly shot down. We would rather pull 1 tractor 4 times than once at $20.00.

With gas at 2.10 plus and fuel for the tractor at 8.00 I dont need anymore dust collectors. Photocopy the checks and frame them -better than a trophy.

Tye Dont show your smarts here boy!! Anybody that is pulling for real with a lot of money invested in the tractor they run doesnt like to pull for a trophy. I once towed 250 miles and paid $60 in entry fee's and got two first and a second. I got three trophies. Wow what a prize. Yes an $8 dallor entry would be great and yes number of entries make you money but you gotta pay money to draw entries!! the pull I chair pays 100 to win and 5 th place pays 20 or your entry back. I also know ollie and he is a serious puller and has a valid point!! Ask a pro-stocker to pull for a trophy and see what the reaction is!! Everybody is entitled to thier own opinion now you have mine!

Well, Mr Chairman has spoken. I hope you feel better now. How much do ya think you should have won for doing so outstanding with your 2 1st and a 2nd. If you want the big money pull a prostock. How many years does it take to pay off one of those big 560 Farmalls? ($35000) If I got nothing for 1st I still had fun. I guess thats what Im trying to say. Im sure we all know we aint gettin rich from this crap. It cost more to do this every year but , its somthin we just like to do. I dont expect to get paid for it. If a trophy is all I get thats nice but dont toss me a $20 spot for winning and expect me to feel like I just made a payment on my puller.

Also if you had read his post through you would have seen at the end where he said he was talking more about the local guys who pull stock classes and not all summer. Sure the guys ho pull like ya'll do should get the money but in the local stock classes trophy's work just fine.

Money payback will bring in alot of pullers but if it is a local pull and it is all in fun then trophys work better. This goes for puling, horse shows , and most anything. Once you start paying back then there is more investing in the tractor to win more money and it snowballs. where you would once have a bunch of Farm Stock tractors that were stock and usable still you now have some that have $4000-7000 invested in them. Not alo of room for a guy ho has one he wants ot hook now and then.

The bad part is that usually with a payback system there still isn't enough money involved to justify the money spent just to win it.

Pro stock and open classes, go for it, but for farm stock I would have a low hook fee and trophys. But then again I am not one of the "serious" pullers.

Do you like a hook fee of $8 or $20? I give trophy's or hats in stock & mod. classes & money for open & out of the field. The number of hooks per class is what pays the bills. I charge $8

Thats awesome that you charge $8. How many entries do you get? And what classes do you offer? And where is this pull? If it is close I may be able to help with your numbers. We had 160 paid hooks at our last pull.

Well I guess there's pullers and wanna be pullers so what ever is will be. I just know till we started paying real money for real pullers to show up we couldnt hardly keep it going. The days of not washing the cow sh--t off are over. So have fun and dust them often!!

I'll keep dusting them and "wanna be" pulling my $1400 tractor while you "real" pullers spend alot more and get paid back a little. I have as much fun if not more than the "real" pullers just because I am not worried about winning as much, but I have ALOT of fun!

And if that is how you have fun that's great, but don't belittle guys who can't invest as much as others can to pull. I personally don't have to extra money to throw into a $8k-25k puller as some people do. I will also not pay a $20 hook fee as if it goes to that I will put the factory hitch back on, cast wheels, and go hit every plow day I can find. Lots more seat time lowing than pulling.

What if you win a money class and it does not even pay your hook fee? With a trophy you can always B.S. yourself into thinking its worth something, but when you dont get your hook fee back in pay you know you have been royally screwed and it happens alot!
