I have a set of 14.9 Firestone's but one tire has some fairly big cracks from where it have set flat. When you air it up it will stay up a week than goes back down. My quesition is will the cracks make the tire weak to were it will flex too much like a soft sidewall or will it be ok because they are a older hard tire. Need some good advise before i have them taken off old rims and have them mounted on some wider rims. Thanks!

A good friend of mine used the filler for rubber roofing on his hole tire! Its like tar, his tires were absolutly awful. He pored that all over them and its never come apart - all he does with it is pull out timber. It does hold and it looks halfways decent.

I've got a super M we pull a little with a big crack/tear in the side wall that has a boot glued in it and as of today we have had no trouble with it. We usually run about 12 psi in it when we pull it. This is a Firestone F&R 151 in 14.9x38 with about 40% tread.

Have seen (and later used) tires with steel plates bolted fast on inside and out to keep tire together with big piece of old tube on the inside. I would't plow a field on a steep slope like that, but it worked.

Cracks won't hurt anything, try 'em out and see how they do.
Not all tires created equal, some do better than others. Never know til you try.
Have fun,

I have heard if you put brake fluid on the cracks, they will go away. Not sure how big a crack it will fix. I'm not sure if it would seal it either but its worth a try.
