HAVE A JD A BLOCK CAST # A2324R AND CASTED IN THE TOP # 111 AND IN THE PISTON HOLES AT THE HEAD END IS SMALLER LIKE AN INSERT BUT NOT IT IS PART OF THE BLOCK THE PISTONS ARE TAPPERED TO GO IN ANYBODY KNOWS WHAT I HAVE

I KNOW ABOUT THE INSERTS BUT THESE ARE NOT INSERTS THEY ARE PART OF THE BLOCK THEY DO NOT COME OUT AND AT THE TOP UF THE BLOCK HOUSING THE #111 IS PART OF THE CASTING IN RAISED LETTERS THIS IS A DIFFERENT BLOCK AND WANTED TO KNOW IF ANYBODY KNEW WHAT IS WAS

Is the block out of the tractor so you can measure the bore easily, or do you have an inside micrometer or bore guage to check it with? It may be a block that has been gutted out and oversized sleeves welded back in, or overbored to 5.875 for "70" pistons from the back side, and the head end left at standard bore. do some measuring and post back. Mike

The A2324R block is for the 1940 thru 1946 model A tractor. The inserts you refer to are to raise the compression without having to replace the pistons. This was done to convert from using kerosene/tractor fuel to using gasoline. Hope this answers your question. Mike

These inserts are also called donuts or compression rings. Used to increase compression.
