does anyone understand why the numbers are off so much??? Tractor pulling is still very big throughout the country!Should we call the genuis'that brought the organization to this? Who would that be? I heard Bill Bear is selling his tractor cause he is in the process of having a 300 utility built with a little HD-800 MM engine with 1500 cubic inch that will pull in the 3250# class. Could this be why????? ????? ?????

Some of what has been said I agree with and some I don't but what bothered me is how Marty came across with the remarks about the little local clubs. I've pulled with the local boys and I've pulled with the big boys, pulled high dollar, pulled low budget. I've been pulling and involved with pulling since mid 60's so I'm not new to the game. Having said that, Marty I didn't think it was right for you to put down the little local clubs. Just because one person pulls local and one pulls sanctioned events that don't give anybody the right to in anyway put down the other. We all need to remember where we started and no matter what someone will be unhappy. I've won and I've lost pulls over the years and I have always found it best to, if you don't like where your at then move on. Also just for the record I pulled at a sactioned event and there was 226 hooks. The next weekend I pulled at a little out of the way local club pull and they had 260 hooks. In my class there was 47 tractors at the sactioned event and I won. At the little pull there was 33 tractors in my class and they kicked my butt big time but I had a lot of fun at both. I didn't loose because everybody cheated or the rules wasn'nt fair, I lost because ( I ) screwed up!!!!! Beleave it or not, rules aren't always fair and there are pullers that cheat that's the nature of the beast. My advice to all is go pull, do the best you can, have fun, and most of all try to help to build the sport up not tear it down. One more thing, to those who have all the answers and know everything, please share with me because I don't.

Mike, It was never my intention to "put down local clubs".We belong to 4 local clubs, and we have as much or more fun at these little local pulls than we do at the big ones.I don't keep many of my trophy's,in fact we recently gave away more than 200 of them, but the few that I have kept are associated with local events.I enjoy weighting my F-14 up to #5000 and pulling against G's,M's,88'S,etc.,and beating them. The point that I was trying to illustrate was that a person who gets his tail whipped at a big event has no business posting stupid messages that focus the short comings of a club on one single person.Bill and Susie Bear are two of the nicest and most descent people you will ever meet.I would be willing to bet that this RIPE dummie has never even met Bill. And besides that,Bill pulls Div.5,so if numbers were declining in that one class alone, than he may have a legitamate complaint. If the numbers are indeed falling off slightly, and if one aspect of the club were to blame, the reason would more than likely be the Tech.commitee.I feel they are doing an outstanding job,and they have the worst job at the pull. However,it is a necessary job,and many feel that they don't that they need someone giving their tractors a once over.I have personally been told by MY OWN TECH.COMMITEE that I must change something that could be a safety issue, and I'll admit that it annoys the crap out of me,but I have the intelligence to realize that these folks are just doing the job that I elected them to do. So Mike, As you can see,I am not bashing little clubs in any way. Most of my fondest pulling memories are from small, local events.Noone will ever catch me bashing any club,be it a local one,the NATPA,USAP,NTPA,etc.on this site. And I most certainly would NEVER try to focus what I felt were the faults of a club onto one single person.Only a small minded, weak person would do things like that. The only way to get things changed for the better is to voice your opinion where it counts, namely at a meeting in Mo.at the championship pull. That,my friend, takes some amount of courage, and I think our RIPE friend is seriously lacking in that category. Please feel free to E-mail me at any time. And thank you for singing your name to your post. That tells one and all that you have confidence in who you are and what you stand for.Good Day,
Marty

If you don't like the NATPA,I guess thats just fine with the rest of us that do.You have apparently pulled with us at least once and obviously got your tail whomped pretty bad to have such a negative additude.Who knows, maybe you are king of the hill at your little local club, perhaps consistantly finishing second out of the three tractors in your class, maybe even getting a jacket at the end of the season, which I'm sure you wear proudly, and it apparently makes you an expert, thus making your testosterone levels rise to a dangerous level, which in turn makes you brave enough to anonamously post these messages that are soooo full of facts.I will bow to you, your highness,if I ever meet you.I tend to believe what the bible says to be true:relatives should not marry and spawn offspring such as yourself. Please do continue to type your thoughtless little opinions at this site,as they give those of us with some amount of intellect something to laugh at.Thank you, Respectfully submitted by: Marty Feldpausch

Marty, I think that would be a cute tractor! LMAO!! Ive asked the question all the time of "Whats next?" Maybe this guy did get waxed in his visit to NATPA, or, maybe he saw something that was "Let through the line" that wasnt supposed to be,,, Either way, If this is the way this puller feels to make a comment like that, Funny HAHA, or What have ya, Why take it personally? Marty, you was there in the Old days too, to see it all go wrong from favoritism, now, you boys are trying to build back up the NATPA"s slightly tarnished name to be held in high reguards again. I respect that, and maybe, just maybe it mite work out in the future. More and more rules, changes and rearranges, I ask this though,,, Will it work? Can the NATPA bring back its gluster as the best as it gets? Id say, if you guys really did get the heads out of their tailends,, then maybe in 5-10 years of practicing the new world order, will bring back the shine from when NATPA was first concived. You know it, and I know it, the whole world knows how the NATPA was,,, and thats how it got its reputation. Marty, know it or not, but you are an Icon in the NATPA, you and your wife have won alot of pulls, Ive seen you pull, pulled against you, and read the countless win records in the HOOK. Impressive. Youve made a name for yourself in your pulling career. You seem to have a passion for this sport, and a strong opinion that is heard all over the lands. As a fellow puller, I also respect that. Hopefully, the NATPA can follow your lite, and help turn it all around. Now, on a personal note, on being king of the hill, bowing to your highness, etc etc etc,, I got a chuckle out of that, coming from you. As a big fish in the NATPA's pond, well yeah, you got bragging rights, lots of it. But, ya know,,, there is also a club called the USAP. And my friend, Come to the USAP once, meet some of the Big fish in that rapidly growing lake, or should I say Ocean. You mite just find out,, that your swimming in some really big waters. As a USAP puller, with a very potent win list myself, I got bragging rites there too, and oh yes,, I got the club jackets hanging in the closet, bout 7 or 8 of them, When USAP called the Thanksgiving pull the championship pull, well, I won many of them, back to back to back to back and then over and over again. I thought of myself as a USAP champion, I still do. I am a champion puller, and Im darn proud of it. But, in my opinion, you have not faced the best of the best of anything. Cause it aint in front of you. Ive seen good pullers, Ive seen cheating pullers, Ive seen it from both ends of the spectrum, just like you have. and you know you have that feeling when you go pulling,, will I get beat today?? and By who??? Will they be a cheater when they beat you, will they have done it the hard way and earn it? Was it me, was it the tractor, was it the sled operator, or what have you?? But, Ill tell you this much, the guppy, is the underdog in this pulling pond. Big fish beware! Dangerous waters! Good day to you sir. And, would you like to come pull with us? ChadS

NATPA pulls are all over the country, USAP pulls are only in a few conected states. I'm not saying either has tougher competition, but what are you calling an ocean?

Id say the hook numbers. Id go out on a limb here and say that in a few more years, youll see more and more USAP pulls. Just like many small clubs who have spun off the NATPA rules, more and more are sporting USAP rules in the new locations that do come out, and turn out to be very successful. Not taking anything away from anyone here, Back then, most of the board members of NATPA was getting pulls in their, or close to home towns. You can thank the old NATPA board members from yesterday for the most of the locations there is today. At the time, they were all spread out all over the place, and where, or close to where they were from, you found a NATPA pull coming to that location. Id say USAP, would expand if John allowed it, and if he wanted to go traveling all over the US, but I like his Idea, and keep it closer to home, so he can be there at every pull he supports. USAP is growing in support, NATPA is geting better, it has dropped off, but rebuilding. Oceans apart, yet come from the same lake, In all honesty, Both are still growing, but popularity seems to side with USAP, Dont know why that is,, but there is nothing wrong with being supported, no matter what the clubs name is,,, ChadS

Chad, Thanks for the constructive critisism. It is my goal to attend a USAP pull in the near future. In fact,I will make a deal with you, right here, right now,in front of God and everyone on this forum:I will attend a USAP event if you come back and attend a NATPA event.I have heard nothing but good about John and his crew, and I am looking foreward to meeting them. Also, thanks for not hiding behind some evil, cryptic name as some do on this site.I believe that you are an honest person, with the best of intentions. If we ever do attend the same event, here's a head's up-I drink Bud,not the light crap either. F-series farmalls RULE, Marty

I used to be a fan of the NATPA. If you were upset with my comments that is the way things are, do the rapidly declining numbers trouble you the same? Is it my comments or the numbers that trouble you? Marty the comments were not meant to offend you directly. NUMBERS LOOK AT THE NUMBERS

Forgive ME if I implied in any way, shape,or form that your comments "upset" me.I just love it when people like you get on this forum and make themselves look really stupid. It makes me realize that there are so many people out there that apparently are so disgusted with their own lives that they have to lash out at anyone and everyone else who has more brains than they have.Who knows, maybe you feel that by trying to bring everyone else down to your level, you will eventually mentally put yourself on a higher level. It don't work that way.Have you ever heard the old saying,"Misery Loves Company"?Seems to fit you like a glove.Once again, keep on typing,as I truely enjoy reading your foolish posts, and who knows, maybe some head doctor will read them too and possibly reach out and give you some well deserved counseling. Rules are part of any organized motorsports competition.Check out the rule books for NASCAR,NHRA,USAC,etc.Rules help level the field for all to compete. In my experience from DIRT and NHRA racing those who complain the loudest about rules are trying to cheat.YES,sometimes, some rules force one to spend money that would otherwise not have had to been spent. In my short 1 year and this one so far,I think that the rules of NATPA are too vague and not consistantly and effectively enforced.I tend to feel that Div1&2 need cubic in limits, but on the other hand the tire size limits the horsepower gained by the cid increase.Div.3 tractors required to run "stock" frontends, not lightweight fabricated ones.Div4,which is where we pull, limit cid to a percentage over stock greater than div3,fabricated frontends, but still using "stock" or replacement manifolds, pretty much what is now.Div5 should be limited to stock crankcase in stock location.Deck plates, billet heads, fabricated manifolds, lightweight components. But up the year model retriction to something less arcaice. Now understand; this is MY opinion, and I would love to see others voice theirs in a clear and concice manner so that at Columbia we as the members could bring them up!If you have a complaint or an idea voice them here and hopefully WE as a group can bring change, not just vague complaints!
