Question for NATPA pullers

I see a lot of tractors w/pressure tanks ("Moon tanks", once upon a time) mounted out front. Is this for fuel? Or coolant?

We don"t see those much in ITPA, I don"t think-but maybe I haven"t paid attention. Just curious

Thanks

The tanks are not 'pressure' tanks they are vented. But yes we use them for fuel.

So Farmall, would that mean that all tractors w/these tanks run fuel pumps? Always looks uphill to bowl to me.

Wondering why the alum tanks have replaced stock gas tanks?

I'm not challenging, I'm just curious about what I see in pictures.

Thanks

A few are infact stainless tanks equipt with a Ford in tank fuel pump designed for fuel injected engines.

Some tracks really are tough, and for these tracks, you need all the weight that you can get up front.Even though these little tanks full of fuel only weigh about 25 pounds, that little bit of weight can sometimes make the difference between a full pull and two feet shy. They are also inherently corrosion resistant,so one doesn't worry so much about plugged fuel filters or clogged ports in your carb.

Thanks Marty

I can see the weight/arm thing OK.

But-fuel pumps would be necessary-right?

Thanks

Some type of fuel pump would be required. It might jumpt be a lift pump from the diesel version of the tractor or an electric pump of some sort. You could even set up an intank pump if you were real energetic. Unless the fule tank is higher than the carb.
