What is the difference in the M heads with the casting numbers #8060DA and #8574DB ? Have some of both but not sure which one to use.

Almost identical. The 8574 head is the late model gas head for the SM-MTA used on gas, and LP engines from the factory. No, its not an actual LP head, the 8060, was the older high compression gas head for the M's If your 8574 head has the indention along the side of the compression chamber, it is a good cyl head, compatible for firecrater, or stepped head pistons. You could get them either way, depending on what year the tractor was, early 52-late 53, there was the 8060, and the 8574d the DB is the late model prefix, so it should have the indention I mentioned,, ChadS

What is the casting for the 400-450 gas head? I thought that the late model SM through 450 were all 8060. What is the casting for an LP head?

You are listing the part number correct? What is the difference between the casting number and the part number. Is the 362174R still an 8060XX? Thanks.
