What do they actually do to the cam when they regrind them or should I say where do they get the extra material to add lift and duration? Do they weld them up and reshape the lobes?
Thanks Shaggy

Even just bringing the cam back to stock specs can bring pretty good HP. A cam and follower set may look OK to the eye. However when measured, they are robbing torque from less duration and lift caused by wear.

they get the extra material from making the base circle smaller. dont forget that by grinding the base circle just .05 you can get up to about .1 more lift due to the rocker arm ratio. In some extreme cases you can weld the lobe and grind it, however, it is much easier to just turn the shank of the cam down than to weld the lobes.

Would I be better off buying a set or Roller rocker arm's? I know it would be easier to change.

You only gain lift from rockers. There is much more to grinding the cam. Duration, lift, lobe seperation, and intake lobe advance will be changed when grinding a performance cam.

Be careful what you do. Big valve lift has its place. Make sure your motor desrves it or it won't have any umph.

And work lots of overtime while you can.
