I am trying to get our county fair board interrested in having a tractor pull at our next county fair.I have seen some pulls and been in a couple but don't know the nuts and bolts of how to get one started.I know that there are some out there that contract their sled but do they run the pull. Also ,what would be the do's and don'ts in getting a pull started.I live in northwest Arkansas and can ask some of the area show people but for now I want some idea as to what to exspect.

Contact a sled operator and find out prices,if that includes a scale,if its a pullback sled you need to line up a pull back tractor. How much prep will your track take?Do you need a blade to skin it down and do you have to put it back afterword? We "mooch" as much equipment as possible:A seed dealer supplies a tractor and speedmover. The city lets us use the maintainer to blade the track and skin it in case of a rain. My brother gets drafted into running scraper tractor and supplying pullback tractor.Local contractor lets us use a roller wheel packer.Brother #2 is auctioneer and supplies PA system,Clerking trailer complete with wife AKA bookkeeper and "cash drawer" so you can collect and pay back.Little things like drawbar height gauge, a battery for the scale, lime to lay out bounderies, Flags and a flagman.Trophys and awards can usually be purchased with monies from local business donations. We have a money payout to the two classes with the most entrys. And last but not least: helpers! scaleman and drawbarheight checker, lineup, hooker, unhooker, flagger, packer, scraper, pullback, tractor drivers.Local firedept. will usually water track and supply peace of mind. Church or civic organizations for food.Pray for good weather, hope everybody shows up on time, nothing goes wrong and you have a good turnout!NOTHIN'TO IT!!!!Right Patches??HaHa

And that is on a ggod day, now when things go bad, and you only need one thing to screw up the whole parade then you have a whole nother set of problems, but what the heck, ain't pulling grand??? LOL Crazy

Oh yeah, then when it's over and done with you have the complainers to contend with which is more of a headache than the pull itself, RIGHT!!!!!

You can contact Richard Kenyon, President of Shoal Creek Tractor Club in Granby, Mo. We go out and do pulls, also have several members from northwest Ar who are members and we do go to Morrow, AR to pull. His number is 417-669-7387

Well, I suggest that you find a group that does pulls at other locations around your area. They would probably jump at the chance to have a pull at a fair. Basically all us pullers enjoy a pull with a good audience. Maybe some of us like to show off. Some clubs charge, but many now just make there money off the hook fees because of the numbers.
