No, I wouldn't put the 15.5's on a 12" rim. Too skinny. Electronic igntion is a must, because of all the runnng time when you are in the rotation, a set of points can burn up real quick, and your headed home. We pull alot of deadweight pulls around here in Northern Indiana, and there is quite a few M's that can pull the load. Can you run duals? asphalt, or dirt? On concrete, or asphalt, a new set of tires work pretty well VS an older set. Do you have any rules for the hitches? Ours is just 20 inches high, and its a free for all on how close it can be. Main thing on performance is to get it to run as good as it can, not as strong as it can be, just run good, no misfiring, or carb overflooding from the front end being in the air. Its not a game of HP, its a game of balance, and the right amount of torque, or engine rpms, where you can launch it, and not spin out right off the bat. Hot rods, are kinda outclassed in deadweight, sure, there are some ecentric modifieds out there, not much over stock though,, they just run very consisitant. Really, Id just give it a good tune up, make sure everything is up to par as far as engine specs from the book!! Misfire free, and then work on balance and weight placement. Use wheelie bars!!! Seen too many almost tip last year. If they did not have them,,,, would have been ugly. Hope this helps,,, ChadS

you should consider electronic ignition.
electronics are superior to point system.
