I was just thinking today about my ole' Super M. I was thinking about the head on it for some reason, along with other dreams I have for it. I was just wondering if anybody else has contemplated recasting the 450 LP head. I have no idea of the cost, except it is the cost of winning and staying competitive. If not that, I know that on the bigger pro series tractors they have custom aluminum heads. Anyone every thought of having one made to the specs of a 450 LP head or better? Guess I am just curious if I am the only one who is dreaming this big.

Lemmons has repop 450 LP heads on the shelf ready to bolt on. Last I heard the price was around $2500.

I know this migh be a stupid question but I am going ot ask anyway as I have been curious about it for some time. Exactly what are the differences between an LP head and a gas head? is it bigger valves or a different configuration of the combustion chamber or what? I guess I am wondering if a regular head could be taken to a good machine shop with CNC equipment and be remachined to the specs of a LP head.

What makes the 450 LP head special is the size of the combustion chamber. M-SM gas runs around 200 CCs, 400-450 gas 180, The 450 LP about 140. The head alone will boost compression about 2 full points and you can't mill the others enough to make that much difference. The ports are supposedly a lot better too.
