What weight classes will a G pull in. Looks like start at 6500, but how much higher will it pull. Only mods are high comp pistons, and 16.9 x 34 tires. Thanks Ken.

I have a 1946 John Deere G, and it is styled (of coarse), and with me on it, it weighs 5600. So I pull it in 6000, 6500, 7000, 7500. It best classes are 6000, and 6500. Keep in mind I also put heavy built weight brackets on my tractor, plus it has shutters.

On a good biting track about 7000lbs can kill it.Mine had a lot of the goodies but not stroked and was hitting in 6200 and up.7500lbs was too much for it unless the track was loose.I am guessing your talking styled?I had my stock breather off and the power-trol removed.I mainly concentrated on 6500lbs and 7000lb classes.

You can get an G in the 5500 # class with very little work done. Go with the basics. get ride of what you dont need. Mine weighed 5150 with me on it.

Ken - You didn"t give much info on your tractor. Styled or unstyled? Pressed steel wheels, cast center wheels, or spokes? Unstyled tractors with spokes or pressed wheels can usually make 5000 if you don"t have a lot of add ons. Things like power lift and big wheels and tires are heavy. We have one "38 G that can make 4500 pounds with my teenage son on the seat. It has a smooth rear cover, 15.5X38 on pressed steel and aluminum weight brackets. We ave also removed the stock air cleaner and replaced with a K$N style. Tractor is basically stock so that one doesn"t go passed about 6500 pounds. Hope that gives you some ideas. Good luck. J

I'm sorry i did'nt give enough info, but i went to pull this weekend and it weighed 5,050 lbs. It is a styled 52 model, tires were to small and did'nt do much but spin. Thanks for the info, Ken.
