any of you guys who have done this did you think it was worth doing or not. did you gain much power or were you disappointed in the results.

i have an a with that setup and a power block plus all the goodies. it will pull 4300 up to 7500(not very often) usally 43-6000 very competive tied for points in two classes for the year missed some pulls to tractor is for sale but if dont sell sone going 9inches plus this winter

It depends on what you intend to do with the tractor...!! If all you want is a little more power, I would just change pistons and get some more compression. You would get more power for a whole lot less work.. If you are going to "pull" it, you would probably want more stroke than a late "A" crank has anyway, so you would want a stroker crank.. I always wonder..what did JD know about Bore/Stroke relationships, when they shortened the stroke in the "20" and "30" Series..?? They increased the RPM, and shortened the stroke and made More Horse Power...Hummm.. Must have something to do with burning Gasoline...!!! Kerosene required Low RPM, Low Compression, and the only way to get lugging power was to have a Long Stroke... I know, pulling requires Cubic Inches..put those pullers would not work very long on a tank of Gaoline..in the field pulling a disc..!!
