Anyone out there willing to give up some info on a clutch, flywheel combo for a Rd 450 in a 460? Been thinking and looking for some tried and proven ideas. Thanks.

I don't know much about putting one in a 460... we have put one in a 560, and it was relatively simple....you can retain the stock flywheel if you wish (with some machine work), but the crankshaft flange sticks out alot more on an RD450 than it does with a 221-301 engine...we built a steel flywheel/double-disc clutch set-up for our 560...as we couldn't get a single-disc clutch to hold...you will also have to make a front engine mount and re-drill the the rear engine plate off of the the stock engine to get it to bolt to the RD450....It will also be difficult to retain the front steering bolster if you wish to do so, the RD450 is considerably longer than the stock engine (I removed mine). We have our tractor for sale if you would like to buy one that is already done....

At the local pulls, we usually ran it anywhere from 3500-4000 rpms...We did pull it at the 30% over stock rpms a few times and it ran well there also....
