If you splurge and get 14.9 38's they will have a larger foot print on the dirt and thus more traction. Going to a 15.5 is taller, but slightly less square inches of foot print. A long draw bar makes it easier to raise the front end slightly to get a multiplication of weight on the rear tires. Pulling dead weight is a dirty game and your worst enemy could be the guy before you who places the boat in a low spot, loose spot, or next to the line to mess with you. Great game if taken in good humor. Most guys set their tractors close to the same for both styles of pulling, rest is felt in the seat of your pants.
