You are starting with one of the easiest tractors to pull with, can go from mild to wild, depending how deep your pockets are. There was a pull in Marion, SD last summer, try the local chamber of commerace there. Stay in the farm stock classes, get your hitch as high and as short as the rules allow, use 13.8x38, 14.9x38, 15.5x38, or at most 16.9x38 BIAS tires, either brand new or road worn tires (need sharp edges) for pulling. Try 8-12# air as a starting point. Get rid of your alternator/generator/ hyd pump, PTO, wide front, muffler, (use straight pipe) shorten the governor spring a tiny bit (more RPM,s), strongly consider a electronic ingnition from Denny's Carb shop (about $275 for a total rebuilt one, your distributor is 60 years old)[before the Denny's bashing starts, yes, I've had problems with him myself, but I've had good luck with his elec ignition]. New plugs and wires, clean out air cleaner, fresh gas. If you strip enough weight, you should be able to get into the 5500# & up classes. Make sure that you get some local rules FIRST, saves alot of time with hitch height, what kind of weights are allowed and just how "stock" you have to be. Make brackets and use 100# suitcase weights if they will let you, much easier to move around to weight tractor properly. You want to have front end off ground an 1nch or two when you get done with the hook. Keep you eyes open to see what works for others. There probably will several other M's there. Good luck and have fun. Remember, SAFETY FIRST, tractor in neutral and hands and feet off of controls when hooking and un-hooking from sled.
