You can buy a good puller for a lot less than you could ever build one.

Go for the gusto!! Find a powerblock, sleeve it to 6.25, add 9.25 stroke, good for 570 cubes. A fair amount of work required but anything you do as far as stroking will be and as long as you're doing it, spend a little more time on it. Have one at 662 cubes and don't regret it.

Make sure you preface that with... how long you want it to last? What RPM's? How much work do you want to do?
How much money do you have?

want something that will last, but still have power. labor is not a issue. i want to use my stock block without having to buy a power block. maybe like 5.75 bore and 8.50 stroke? or maybe 5.875 x 9 any ideas?

I have a friend that has an unstyled A with a 5.75 X 9 motor, that has been pulled for years without any problems. It runs good and pulls good---may not always win, but it's always in the hunt. Good tractor with lots of compression.

The 9x5.75 has been around for a while.. (Got one on the stand now..) and most have proven to be a durable set-up.. but there is bigger stuff out there... If you are going with the stock block.. I'd go 9.25.. maybe 9.375.. by 5.75... Good Luck
