I drill out the jet on my Zenith carb 2 sizes bigger and I was wondering if should the stem that come up thru the venturi be take out 2 sizes bigger also to take advantage of the now over size jet. The holes in the stem were the same size as the stock hole in the jet.
Thanks

Are you talking about the hole through the tube or the side holes in the tube.Usually the emulsion tube which I believe you are referring to usually has a larger bore than the jet itself going all the way through from the venturi to the jet.
if it is the same size as your new jet bore than I would try to bore it out the same size or larger for good draft. How much bigger cubes are you running if any than stock?

The cubes that I am running are most likely less than you have in 1 cylinder but I appreciated your help! I am talking about the holes in the sides and the extra cubes are only a extra 10 but I jumped the compression up a pretty good amount. (At least I think I did)I am only 123Cid on this engine.

Hey shaggy are you using stock head or the other? it will respond to your changes more with the later head. the stock head with a.020 to.30 trim and your new piston kit should be around 7/1 and you should have 29+/-HP, I would try the jet alone first, the stem has 2 holes the jet only has 1 and on a zenith you can change the jet without dissasembling the carb.CLIFF

The head is off a 140 and has bigger valves and the big intake ports and a lot smaller combustion chamber. About half the size of the stock head. I have a stem out of another Zenith and it has 8 holes. (4 pairs)I also have a bigger venturi but I don't want to change that yet. The pistons are supposedly a copy of the fire crater but are made by Tisco.
Thanks

Are you also useing the 140 int/ext manifold? if knot i would, i would use the larger venturi and stem, you are right thinking you have more c/r i bet around 9/1 and i would only use primuim 94 in it, the 140 head will flow so much better uyou will have to adjust the carb a little at a time until its rich enough, it should be real strong for only 123 cui.

I don't have the 140 Manifold but I have one off a Super A but I think the 140 manifold is a colder manifold. The ones I have seen don't have the intake runners inclosed in the exhaust to warm things up. At the moment is has a Mag and if I can find a torque tube that has a starter hole in it things might get changed around a little. Thanks again

The 140 manifold matches the airflow to your head and will help make more HP,they are cold air, BUT knot cold blooded, you will half to do a bit of porting on the A manifold to equil the 140, the mag is ok but you can do more with a distibitor, is this an A or B? I have a 39 A with thoes pistons(crank start with a mag) super c head stock manifold and carb that i had to rework to evin get it to run, it runs well and needs prem 94 gas becose it dont have a water pump and it will ping, your tractor should be stronger than mine,i have 27+- depending on what dyno i am on but i will probley get stronger as it gets broke in. At the Moment its in a 40 B but it might make its way in to a A that I have because I think it would be easier to balance side to side if I ever get to pull it. The only bad thing is it the original block for the B. Sometimes here at the local fair the have a dyno. I might have to find out who owns it and call them.

Most B tractors pull better than the A, (Wen you come to PA we can help you ballance it)The A and B share the same serial numbers and the only way they could tell is to check below no 1 spark plug if it starts FAA or FAB or FABN but if they know farmalls that well they will be more conserned with your head. I never thought of that one. The head is off a 52 140 I think? 1 of the reason its on there is because it had better valve seats than the B head and Bigger valves and such. Go from Big block chevy"s to 4cyl.farmalls! If you want you can Email me ([email protected])
