I hear there may be some discussion on the farm stock class this year.

Hey guy's I think we need that distinction between the Antique/Classic class and the Farm Stock too. If you take away the cone some of the more powerful tractors (who probably shouldn't be in the class anyway) can finish pretty strong. There are a couple of guy's pushing for the increase in speed and they hardly pull. The last pull of the season was an experiment to see how it would work. I really think one of the reasons we have been very successful is that we offer something for anyone who comes to one of our pulls. I personally think that if you want to rake hay in the morning with your tractor and come to one of our pulls in the afternoon you should have a chance to take a trophy home. I am for keeping the farm stock rules the way they are. The improtant thing is to get to the winter meetings when this will be voted on and voice your opinion.

HI guys Iam not trying to start someting. I like the farmstock class just the way it is.YES LRN there is something for everybody. I guess i was told some bad info the other day about this.Take care we'll see you all later.

Yes, there are a few in favor of eliminating the 50 ft. cone and bumping up to 3 mph. I learned that average 1st gear speeds are about 2.3-2.7 mph on stock tractors. (Not couting granny gears.) The 50ft. cone rule allows any speed before the cone, but no beeps after. This keeps hot tractors from launching at the end of the pull. Creating this class got many folks to pull that normaly would not. Changing the rules would make Farm Stock no different than the Antique/Classic. The only Farm Stock change I support is maybe bumping the year up to 1960s to allow more Farm/Show tractors. At our last pull, new rules were used WITHOUT A VOTE. There was a suggestion to allow sharpened tires too. This class was for show and farm tractors only. Gee whiz, let's keep that idea alive. There are two very nice classes for everyone else. I hope to get enough support to keep real Farm Stock alive.

Well said Ethan and Lee Roy. I think that if you throw away the cone and up the speed limit, you will be opening up a 55 gallon drum of worms. Our farm stock class has become very popular, and in my opinion the reasons for that have everything to do with the rules that already exist. I believe that higher h.p. tractors will definately drop down and try to pull farm if we allow the existing rules to be changed. The only other way that we will be able to police the class would be to subject the top 3 tractors to a dyno check, and I for one am not luggin' mine to every pull! I hope we are not at the N.A.T.P.A. championship pull when the rules meeting takes place so that we will be able to voice our opinions. If the rules are changed, I guess I'll dig the little E-3 out of the shed and try to show why the rules should'nt have been changed. Marty
